I'm Still Here

I'm still here, pony friends. :) I'm training for my first 5K race, the Dexter-Ann Arbor Run, and am really pressing myself through April to know I'm ready to do this. I've been hard at work to "become a runner," you might say, for a while now, but this winter I became very serious about the whole fandango. So there's been a bunch of days where I could have done a blog entry, but knew I needed to lace up the shoes and turn on the P90X; at the moment that comes first. I still also need to figure out a streamlined way to do entries because I just have so. many. props. Boxes and bins of pony playsets and accessories from just about everything you can think of to back the entries up. Finding one particular thing, despite micromanaging the whole mess with 8,000 sandwich bags, is like trying to find the one black cat with a white spot on its belly in a swimming pool filled with cats. I need to invite Anthony Bourdain over..make up some thing about eating plastic pony accessories being a Michigan delicacy just to filter out some of the duplicate stuff.

I'm looking at doing a Mother's Day-themed photo contest to give away a Newborn, but I'm looking for ideas that aren't the usual "Why I love my Mom" thing. Thoughts? I know a lot of us out there don't have super-duper relationships with our moms, so I don't want anyone feeling left out. Bohemian from MLP Arena had some great ideas...either "What did you want to be as a kid?" or "What trouble did you get into as a kid?" Sounds good, eh? I'm looking to be giving away a Tumbleweed Newborn Twin this time...excited about that because I know Milkweed & Tumbleweed are a popular pair. Believe me, I am keeping my eyes out for some bigtime ponies to give away as time goes by. I wonder how many entries I'd get if Mimic was the prize? ;)

I just wanted to stop in and say hi to my pony peeps. Don't forget to use your MLP coupons that came in the USA Sunday paper coupons last week! Are you scouring the stores waiting for new pony singles to come out like I am? :P

  1. Geeze yes, still waiting for new singles. I want Dewdrop now. Hmm Mother's day does seem like a difficult theme. Could you broaden it to spring in general? Or do you have something planned for that already?

  3. Hi Niccole! I'm so tired of the anticipation of heading down the "pony aisle" only to have the "Awwwwwww...MAN!" of defeat over and over LOL. I never found the Easter Fluttershy that was supposed to be around either. Nope, I don't have a "spring" theme contest, but that's also a possibility that will skip over the whole family issue! I'd love to hear any thoughts you have on that!

Hi Eternia! That sounds like an adorable idea...I would definitely have to say that the ponies don't have to be "related" :) to be family. I'm big on the idea of Ohana; you don't have to be related to be family! I'm not sure how many readers out there have pony "families"...if you do, I'd love to hear from you and see if we have some ground to go on with this idea!

Thank you for your ideas, everyone! ^_^ I just picked up a randomly bizarre item at the thrift store today that will be in an Easter post... ;)

  4. Hmm, I was just thinking if some handmade pony goodies might be good prizes too. I'm one of those people who's crafty in a zillion ways and I really enjoy sewing, so wondering what sort of pony goodies I could cook up ::scratches head::. I own an embroidery business (as in machine embroidery) so I can also personalize things. I'm hoping to work on some weddings of pony collectors so I can help the brides personalize the wedding with their love of ponies! :) I have a couple ideas for contest treats...I should whip some stuff up to show you guys!

  5. The Easter Fluttershy can be ordered (and sometimes found at Things From Another World. That's where I got mine. Here is the 800 number-
    800-862-0052

But I specifically got mine from the location in Beaverton, OR.
    (503)643-4222.
The store manager is named James. He's a good guy.

How about a "How you terrorized your mother while you were growing up" contest? Because weather you loved your mother or hated your mother, we all did "naughty" things as kids. especially around that toddler age when they weren't quite used to us walking yet. tee hee hee.

  6. Hey GMP! :) Gahhhhh so she's that hard to find that I better call or no luck for me? :( Thank you for the info! So fitting the name of the store is "Things From Another World" because these G4 releases have been as elusive as Moon Men >_>

LOL OMG, I would have SO many funny entries if I entered my own terrorizing contest. :) Cute idea! I can think of one incident that still puts me into tears LOLing at it. I suppose I could do it as "How did you terrorize your parent/guardian?"...one of my old friends was raised by her grandparents and I know a number of people that were raised by aunts/uncles, so I'd want to make sure they weren't excluded. (I guess I'm kind of weird on this one. I know *so* many people that are estranged from their families now as adults so I have a lot of empathy!)

These are some great ideas!! I'm going to have to do a poll :)
